Understanding PipeAI Grading: Letter Grades and Grade Points

PipeAI uses academic-style letter grades (F- to A+) to indicate record quality. Higher grades reflect higher-quality records, helping you make informed decisions.

Where Grades Appear

  1. In Responses – Each response is assigned a grade in Grader Setup and during a Grader Run.
  2. In Grader Results – After running a record through your Grader, the overall grade appears in the results view.

How Grades Are Calculated

Each grade has an assigned point value based on an academic grading scale. These points determine both individual response grades and the overall record grade (calculated as the total of all response points, rounded to the nearest letter grade).

The default grading scale uses a denominator of 10, with the numerator determined by the letter grade:

Letter Grade Grade Points Percentage
A+ 10/10 100%
A 9.5/10 95%
A- 9/10 90%
B+ 8.67/10 87%
B 8.33/10 83%
B- 8/10 80%
C+ 7.67/10 77%
C 7.33/10 73%
C- 7/10 70%
D+ 6.67/10 67%
D 6.33/10 63%
D- 6/10 60%
F 5/10 50%
F- 0/10 0%
N/A 0/0 N/A

Impact Multipliers and Grading Influence

Each response's influence on the final grade can be adjusted using Impact Multipliers. A multiplier above 1X increases a response’s weight, while a multiplier below 1X decreases it. Learn more in Using Impact Multipliers to Adjust Responses’ Influence on the Overall Grade.

Using N/A for Non-Applicable Questions

If a question doesn’t apply, select N/A to exclude it from grading. This ensures non-applicable questions don’t impact the final score.
