Using Impact Multipliers to Adjust Responses’ Influence on the Overall Grade

Using Impact Multipliers to Adjust Grading Influence

Impact Multipliers control how much a response affects the overall record grade. The default multiplier is 1X, meaning the response has its standard influence. Setting a higher or lower multiplier increases or decreases its weight in the final grade.

How Impact Multipliers Work

Impact Multipliers adjust the points (numerator and denominator) behind a response’s grade:

  • Above 1X: Increases the response’s impact.
    • Example: An A+ (10/10) response with a 2X multiplier counts as 20/20, making it twice as influential.
  • Below 1X: Reduces the response’s impact.
    • Example: An A+ (10/10) response with a 0.5X multiplier counts as 5/5, cutting its weight in half.

Why Use Impact Multipliers?

Adjusting response influence helps:

  • Prioritize key responses in grading.
  • Reduce the impact of less critical responses.
  • Fine-tune grading for more precise evaluations.

Impact Multipliers are especially useful as you add more questions, ensuring the most important responses shape the final grade effectively.
