PipeAI Roles, Permissions, and Access

Overview

PipeAI uses two permission levels: Organization and Team. Organization permissions control account-wide access and administration, while Team permissions manage who can use and customize specific graders. This dual structure allows you to maintain central control while delegating team-specific management to the right people.

Organization Owners and Admins can configure all roles, permissions, access, and team structure in Organization Settings > Teams + Users tab.

User Access

Understanding how users gain access to graders:

  • Users can be invited to join the organization or directly to a team
  • To access any grader, a user must be added to a team that has access to that grader
  • When a user joins a team, they automatically gain access to all of that team's graders
  • Any team member can invite others to join their team, regardless of role

Managing Roles

New users default to User role. To change roles:

  1. Go to Organization Settings > Teams + Users tab
  2. Find user in the list
  3. Use dropdown menu to change role

FAQ

Can users belong to multiple teams?

Yes. Permissions are set independently for each team.

How does billing work with multiple teams?

Billing is based on the highest-tier grader a user has access to across all teams. For detailed billing information, please visit PipeAI's Billing Guide.

Who can create teams?

Only Admins and Organization Owners.

What happens if a Team Leader leaves?

An Admin or Organization Owner should assign a new Team Leader to manage the team.

How do I transfer Organization Ownership?

The current Owner can transfer ownership in Organization Settings.

Does each team need a Team Leader?

No, but having a Team Leader ensures someone can manage team members and graders.

What can a User-Editor modify in grader settings?

User-Editors can edit all aspects of grader setup within the settings for applicable graders. However, only Organization Owners and Admins can adjust the global grader feature settings in Organization Settings > Graders tab.

How do I transfer Team Leader responsibilities?

Change the team role of the current Team Leader and assign another user as Team Leader for that team.

How can I see which graders a user has access to?

Look at the teams table in Organization Settings > Teams + Users tab to see which teams they are a member of, and which graders those teams have access to.

What happens when I remove a user from a team?

They immediately lose access to all graders that team has access to. If they don't have access to any paid graders through other teams, they will not be billed in the next cycle.

How quickly do permission changes take effect?

Permission changes take effect immediately.
